Lot 0035 Est R 1000 – 3000 An Early 20th Century Royal Doulton Sung Ware Flambé Vase circa 1920 – 1925 – the baluster-shaped flambé glazed body with rising everted rim & conforming upturned looped handles, further decorated in transmutation multi-coloured glazes of blue, yellow, brown & green, black transfer factory mark, signed on the base by the artists by Noke (Charles Noke), F.M. (Fred Moore) & inscribed: Sung (Height: 16cm) (Scarce) Note: Developed at Doulton’s Burslem factory during WWI and named ‘Sung’ as a tribute to the old Chinese master potters, this ‘transmutation’ glaze was popular until about 1940.
