Pencil on paper, signed in pencil, inscribed with the title & dated 1929 (13.5 x 18cm) Note: According to our research this pencil sketch predates the linocut executed by Pierneef by 2 years. There is also a pencil drawing on tracing paper, (A941-747, 11 x 17cm) which is in the State Archive in Pretoria depicting the same scene, Literature: Nilant, F.E.G. Die Hout- en Linosneë van J.H. Pierneef. p. 40, pl. 10 illustrates the later linocut executed in 1931 & titled Groep Huise, Tulbagh
