Description

of box form with dovetailing, attached flat domed top and central pierced hole, flat lower rectangular panel (8 x 14 x 9cm) (Shaft deficient) PLUS a vintage oregon six-drawer spice chest, with a gable-top pediment, chamfered sides aluminium ribbon labels, inscribed: Pepper, Cinnamon, Allspice, Ginger and Cloves (1 x label deficient), all drawers fitted with turned knop pulls, on a rectangular platform base (17 x 18.5 x 8cm) PLUS a nickel-plated brass milk can, with swing-handle, stamped no. 368 (Height: 20cm, diameter: 11cm) Literature: Cook, M.A. The Cape Kitchen, p. 104, the author explains the use of these moulds under the sub-section of Dairy-ing and butter-making: The butter was usually packed into a wetted pound mould with a movable top by which it could be pressed out in a neat rectangular block.
