Description
the rectangular-shaped and hinged mahogany case with overlapping flat domed cover with rebated and moulded edge, featuring a central inset finely inlaid panel depicting a ruined abbey amongst trees, enclosed by incised scale and satinwood and boxwood inlaid herringbone bands, further framed by a cross-cut frame, over four configured quadrant panels, embellished with stylised leafy trefoil tendrils alternating with fruitwood inlaid bands, over a conforming front panel and side panels. The underside of the cover adorned with a harp and naturalistic foliate mosaic panel and lower storage compartment, on a moulded plinth base (12 x 33 x 23cm) (Condition report: Splits evident to cover and base, central panel loose and minor losses to inlaid decoration throughout, consistent with age)
