stamped EPNS, the trumpet-shaped body with foliated, flared and everted notched rim, featuring an applied enamelled badge of the White Star Line enclosed by a belted cartouche in tones of scarlet and cobalt and surmounted by an imperial crown, on a circular rising base (Height: 9.5cm, diameter: 5cm) (Condition report: Wear to plating evident) Note: The SS Ceramic was an 18,400-ton ocean liner built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast and launched in 1912 for the White Star Line following the loss of the Titanic. She served the Liverpool-to-Australia route as the largest ship on that run for a decade, functioned as a troopship in both World Wars, and was sunk by a German U-boat in 1942 with massive loss of life.
