Obverse: Featuring the Portrait of Queen Victoria facing left. Lettering: VICTORIA REGINA. Reverse: Featuring the image of rider on horse to right, and dragon below and the Lettering:TO HANOVER 1879. Note: The history – when Victoria was crowned as Queen, being female she was unable to fulfil the role of King of Hanover under Salic Law. Her unpopular Uncle (Ernest Augustus, the Duke of Cumberland) (the oldest male heir to the throne) was sent off to Hanover instead to fulfil the role. In celebration of departure the counters/tokens were produced. (Condition Report: Circulated with imperfections evident)
