Description

the rectangular-shaped and D-ended top with rebated and moulded edge, set on a pair of turned, reeded and ribbed column quadruped supports, each on four outswept splay legs, terminating in cast brass lion paw shod feet, on casters SOLD TOGETHER with one extendable table leaf (Not extended: 147 x 72 x 110.5cm) (Extended: 198 x 72 x 110.5cm) (Condition report: Age wearing, oxidation and splits evident to the top) Provenance: The dining table was originally from the collection of the family of Christiaan Frederick Beyers Naudé (10 May 1915 – 7 September 2004) whom was a South African Afrikaner Calvinist Dominee, theologian and the leading Afrikaner anti-apartheid activist. The piece was originally housed in the Naudé family home in Graaff-Reinet, thence it was passed to his sister Reinet Naudé and thence by descent to the present owner.
